Asia Security Summit and Asia Pacific Round Table
Asia Security Summit- 2009 1President, Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS), Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd). attended the Asia Security Summit also known as the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore from 29-31 May 2009. The Asia Security Summit is an annual event organised the the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and is the largest assembly of Defence Ministers of the Asia Pacific region, Chiefs of Armed Services, members of defence industry, heads of think tanks and security analysts.

Subsequently, he travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he attended the Asia Pacific Roundtable organised by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies – Malaysia. The roundtable brings together security analysts and experts from across the region. An annual event held in Kuala Lumpur, it also provides a forum to discuss how tensions and beyond be lessened and greater confidence and trust fostered across the region.

Asia Security Summit- 2009 2In the sidelines of the two conferences, President BIPSS met and interacted with a number of senior officials and heads of other institutes from different countries. General Munir also attended the official launch of the Asian Security Initiative in Singapore.
