The Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), a premier think tank based in New Delhi and the think tank of Indian Army organised a webinar titled “Vijay Diwas@49: Liberation of a Great Nation.” Major General A N M Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc (Retd), President, BIPSS was invited to deliver the inaugural address. The keynote address of the webinar was given by Lieutenant General S K Saini, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS).
In his remarks, General Muniruzzaman recognised the contribution and heroism of the martyrs of the glorious War of Liberation, 1971. He articulated some key strategic lessons from the war, highlighted the tremendous success achieved by Bangladesh in the last 49 years and Bangladesh’s emerging geostrategic significance. He also talked about the present state of Indo-BD relations, its strengths and challenges and the way forward. The webinar was attended by a large number of eminent personalities, war veterans and policymakers from both Bangladesh and India.
BIPSS and CLAWS are currently engaged in an active research collaboration. In spite of the pandemic, the two institutes have collaborated throughout 2020 publishing joint commentaries and journal articles, hosting joint webinars, etc. As India and Bangladesh enter into the 50th year of its bilateral relations, BIPSS and CLAWS will work on a number of new initiatives in 2021.
