President BIPSS, Major General Muniruzzaman [Retd]. recently spoke at a seminar on ‘Bangladesh at the Crossroads: The Threat of Militancy and Radicalisation at the Centre for Muslim States and Societies at the University of Western Australia in Perth. General Muniruzzaman spoke about the present challenges from radicalisation and violent extremism in Bangladesh and the various policies undertaken to counter it. The seminar was attended by academics, students, government officials among others.
The Centre for Muslim States and Societies conducts research to provide a better understanding of the beliefs and practices of Muslim states and communities in the Indian Ocean region. It is a premier centre of excellence for research on South Asian issues under the University of Western Australia.
