President Attends Conferences in Belgium

President BIPSS Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd) was invited by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to speak at an international conference on The Security Implications of Emerging Climate Altering Technologies. The conference was opened by H.E. Alexander De Croo. Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium and attended by an international audience of experts, policy makers and diplomats. General Muniruzzaman’s presentation at the conference was titled ‘The Security Implications of Climate Geoengineering’. He also spoke at a joint event held by Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC) and EUROMIL in Brussels. His presentation at this event was titled ‘Rising Seas and Rising Risks’ in which he explained the serious implications of sea level rise. General Muniruzzaman also presided over the planning meeting of Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change (GMACCC) as the Chairman of the organisation. GMACCC also did a special briefing for the MFA on climate security issues as Belgium prepares to take over the presidency of the UN Security Council.
