Mr. Shafqat Munir Head of Bangladesh for Terrorism Research [BCTR] and Research Fellow at BIPSS recently attended the 20th Asia Europe Think Tank Dialogue in Vienna, Austria. Jointly organised by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and Webster University in Vienna, the Asia Europe Think Tank Dialogue is a premier conclave of think tankers from eminent think tanks of Asia and Europe. Over the years it has emerged as an important epistemic platform to facilitate the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process.
At the dilaogue Mr. Munir spoke about the importance of trans regional and trans continental cooperation on countering terrorism and violent extremism. In his remarks, he highlighted the emerging threats facing the two continents and underscored the need to work together. He also emphasised on the need to share best practices and lessons learnt and the important role that think tanks can play in this regard. The participants also had an interaction with ASEM Senior Oifficials (SOM) on ideas for the future of the ASEM process.
