Bangladesh’s Contribution to International Security: The Case of Peace Operations
This week President BIPSS Major General Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc( Retd) attended and spoke at a Workshop organised by Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in Singapore. The Workshop titled ‘Bangladesh’s Contribution to International Security: The Case of Peace Operations’ focused on different aspects of UN Peace Support Operations and Bangladesh’s contribution towards global peace and stability. The event was joinly organised by ISAS, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Consortium of South Asian Think Tanks (COSATT).
The speakers and participants at the workshop included senior officers from Bangladesh Army, heads of think tanks, renowned academics and subject matter experts from other South Asian countries. A veteran peacekeeper himself, General Muniruzzaman delivered a presentation titled ‘Learning from the Past and Moving to the Future’. In his remarks General Muniruzzaman touched on the lessons that can be derived from past operations and how it will shape the nature of peace support operations in the future.
