Evolving Military Excellence in Contemporary Security Landscape
President BIPSS Major General Muniruzzaman (Retd) was invited by Chief of Sri Lanka army to give a presentation at the Colombo Defence Seminar 2019. This yearly seminar is a major event in the calendar of military events and draws official military delegations from all continents. This year there were delegations from over 50 countries attending the event. The theme of this year’s seminar was ‘Evolving Military Excellence in Contemporary Security Landscape’. General Muniruzzaman spoke at the seminar on Disaster Mitigation and Management where he touched on scenarios of complex emergencies and new strategies in managing crisis. It may be mentioned that General Muniruzzaman has widely written and published internationally on different aspects of disaster management and was a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Centre for Non Traditional Security in RSIS, Singapore working on the subject. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of Institute of National Security Studies Sri Lanka (INSSSL), of the Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka.
