Graduating into Fragility: Bangladesh’s LDC Exit as a Non-Traditional Security Event

In this commentary, BIPSS Research Assistant Farhana Rashid argues that Bangladesh’s scheduled LDC graduation should be read as a non-traditional security event rather than a simple development milestone. She traces how the loss of trade preferences and climate financing could ripple through the RMG-dependent export economy into employment, gender equity, and household welfare, especially given how little formal social protection exists for the largely informal workforce.
