The Future of Electronic Warfare in South Asia

BIPSS Research Assistant Nazmul Islam Mahmud discusses how the military environment in South Asia is experiencing a paradigm shift from traditional intensive conflict to multi-domain high sophistication. He argues that this paradigm shift will be electromagnetic spectrum, in which accuracy-controlled munitions, sensors, and communications play a crucial role. This change is the outcome of the confrontation between Pakistan and India in May 2025, which revealed that electronic warfare (EW) is altering the deterrence calculus between the two contested countries.
