Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS) recently organized a policy café in collaboration with USAID, IFES AND CEPPS on the topic, ‘Role of Media in Democracy’ at the Westin, Dhaka. The discussion was moderated by BIPSS President ANM Muniruzzaman, ndc, psc, (retd). The expert speakers of the event were Ms. Ayesha Kabir, Head of English Web, Prothom Alo and Mr. Shahriar Feroze, Editorial Chief, The Daily Observer. The attendees of the event included former Bangladeshi Ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, academics, editors, journalists, scholars and students. The speakers brought light to the challenges and hopes of media in Bangladesh’s democracy and the upcoming election. Their wisdom painted a clear picture of how to overcome obstacles and create a better media world for the 21st century. The policy discussion ended with lively interactive session.
