Book Publication by Mr. Ashok Nath, Visiting Senior Research Fellow

Mr. Ashok Nath, FRGS Visiting Senior Research Fellow at BIPSS has published a new book titled ‘Sowars and Sepoys in the Great War 1914-1918’. The book was launched by H.E. Johan Frissel the Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh on 09 December 2014. This new title bridges an important gap in the historiography of the British Indian empire during the Great War. Focusing on the Cavalry and Infantry regiments of the British Indian Army Sowars and Sepoys records their war services, battle honours and ethnic composition as well as a detailed record of the regimental iconography. This book is undoubtedly a significant contribution in enhancing our understanding of the contribution of British India in that global conflict.
