Transnational Militancy: Examining the Recruitment of Bangladeshi Youth by TTP and Allied Groups

BIPSS Research Associate Mohosina Mostofa Mity urged in this commentary that Bangladesh must urgently address the growing trend of youth recruitment by transnational militant groups like the TTP. She highlighted the need for a multi-pronged approach: treating youth employment as a national security priority, strengthening digital and community awareness to counter radicalization, ensuring responsible media coverage, improving coordination among security and social agencies, and fostering careful regional cooperation. By combining jobs, education, prevention, and vigilant oversight, Bangladesh can safeguard its young population from extremist influence and emerging transnational threats.
