The Rise of ARSA: Threats and Strategic Implications for Bangladesh.

The rise Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) has attracted enormous media attention. The little know leader of the ARSA, Attullah Abu Ammar Jununi, has managed to draw international attention as the group attacked 30 police posts and an army base in the north of Myanmar’s Rakhine state. The counter offense from military of Myanmar forced thousands of Rohingya refugees to cross over the border into Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a country with a huge population and limited resources, facing a number of security challenges as influx of refugee continues. The inception of ARSA came at a time when the transnational terror outfits are trying to exploit the situation in the Rakhine state.
